Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system. It is a multidisciplinary branch of science that combines biology (developmental and molecular), physiology, anatomy, cytology, mathematical modeling and psychology to understand the fundamental and emergent properties of neurons, glia, neural circuits and behavior. The Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Group (ING) fosters neuroscience education and research to promote interdisciplinary training and scientific interaction. Currently, the IGN manages both an undergraduate learning major as well as a graduate concentration in neuroscience, travel awards and summer funding programs for undergraduate and graduate research and a research active faculty that have been very successful at obtaining federal funds.
