Cumulative Effects of Pre-recession and the Great Recession Precarity of Black-White Disparities in Health Biomarker Trajectories and All-cause Mortality Among Older Workers

Principal Investigator: Miriam Mutambudzi

Active Dates: 2024 – 2026

Funding Source: NIA/NIH/DHHS

Description:

The project plans to: 1. Examine Black–White differences in the independent and co-occurring effects of pre-recession and Great Recession precarity on trajectories of CVD and diabetes biomarkers (HbA1c, cholesterol, CRP, systolic blood pressure) from 2010–2018, as well as all-cause mortality, 2. Assess Black–White differences in the association between psychosocial work conditions (job strain) and biomarker trajectories and mortality, accounting for cumulative precarity, using both subjective (HRS) and objective (O*NET) measures, and 3. Examine gender as a moderator of the associations in Aims 1 and 2, with particular attention to intersectional disadvantage among older Black women
