Biography:

Yalian Pei’s research aims to enhance quality of life for individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) through maximizing cognitive-communication rehabilitation outcomes and supporting their reintegration into workplace and community living. Specifically, her research focuses on 1) characterizing the primary cognitive and socioemotional factors that affect functional communication (e.g., reading and writing), 2) developing valid and reliable measures to guide treatment planning and service referral, and 3) determining how emerging technologies can enhance cognitive-communication treatment effectiveness and efficacy.
