CAPS Biography:
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and a Senior Research Associate in the Center for Policy Research at Syracuse University, and an affiliate of the NIA-funded P30 Center for Aging and Policy Studies (CAPS). My research interests align with the CAPS signature theme of health and well-being and the cross-cutting theme of policy. My research explores the broad areas of health and productivity, taxation and redistribution, and social and private insurance. Specific research projects examine the effects of health on labor supply, productivity, marriage, and disability benefit receipt as well as the effects of disability benefits on labor supply and health behavior. Much of my work examines how federal policies related to disability and retirement affect labor supply and health of older workers. More recently, my research focuses on the economics of occupational safety and health and the economic consequences of widowhood.
