CAPS Biography:

My research focuses on disparities in health, aging, and family. My work on health disparities examines older immigrants in the United States, with recent work on the topic examining the role of U.S. state policies in shaping those disparities across race and ethnicity. This area of my research aligns with CAPS signature theme of health and well-being and cross-cutting themes of policy, place, and specific populations. My research on spatial proximity between parents and children aligns with CAPS signature theme of family and intergenerational supports and cross-cutting themes of place and specific populations. My work also explores the intersection of health and family by examining racial-ethnic differences in intergenerational family dynamics and caregiving. Much of this work is innovative in examining how race and ethnicity shape these intergenerational family relationships. My work on caregiving also examines how attitudes towards the role of government are changing and addresses important policy-related questions on how to care for a rapidly aging population.
