Nastassia Vaitsiakhovich is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology and a Graduate Research Assistant in the Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion and Population Health in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Between 2016 and 2018, she worked as a Researcher and Trainer Project Manager at the Office for the Rights of People with Disabilities in Minsk (Belarus). Nastassia co-conducted studies on public attitudes towards persons with intellectual and/ or psychosocial disabilities, the development of community-based services, and media representations of persons with disabilities. In 2020 – 2021, she had an internship with the International Disability Alliance (IDA) non-profit organization in Geneva (Switzerland). During the internship, Nastassia supported research on various topics, including alternative care for children with disabilities, employment of persons with disabilities, and social problems of indigenous women with disabilities. Nastassia’s current area of interest is health outcomes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
