Modulation of Sensory Function with Aging

Principal Investigator: Jason DeFreitas, Professor and Chair, Exercise Science

Purpose of the Study: The human brain has multiple pathways that descend down the spinal cord to control the body as well as to modulate sensory information that comes in from the body. This particular study will be focused on how our brain adjusts that incoming sensory information, and how that may change with aging.

Requested Time Commitment: 1 visit to Syracuse University, lasting approx. 2 hrs

Location: The Neural Health Research Lab, located in Women’s Building room 306, on the campus of Syracuse University

Eligibility:

    • 18-35 yrs old, or 65 and over
    • No recent surgeries to the forearm or hand
    • No pacemakers or implanted devices
    • No known neurological disorders or upper body orthopedic limitations
    • No diagnosed epilepsy or history of seizures
    • No recent concussions or metal plates in head
