Grant Description:
The African American Dementia Caregiver Support Project is a culturally sensitive, faith-based health education intervention. Our primary aims are to increase knowledge about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias among inner city African Americans, increase the use of available services and supports by inner-city African American caregivers, and reduce caregiver stress in inner-city African American caregivers. The program goal is to utilize cultural leveraging to provide education about dementia and dementia caregiving to African American adults in underserved communities, and to evaluate the effectiveness of this educational intervention.
