Mission Statement
The Gelfand Family Interdisciplinary Research on Alzheimer’s Disease Scholars Program (InROADS) fosters the development of young scholars in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).  We offer a structured and broad program to students that involves cross-cutting seminars plus an optional immersive research experience on topics related to ADRD to promote the next generation of ADRD researchers.

Description
The InROADS program brings together Syracuse University students from various disciplines and diverse backgrounds with a common interest in aging and ADRD.  InROADS Academic Scholars take relevant elective courses and meet weekly in a year-long seminar that includes a combination of presentations by students, project-based activities, and a meet-the-expert speaker series highlighting the research and practice of established ADRD specialists.  The overall goal is to broaden and deepen scholars’ understanding of the biology, sociology, psychology, economics, and public health concerns of ADRD.  InROADS scholars interested in research can apply for an optional research fellowship in which students participate in faculty-mentored research. The selected InROADS Research Fellows receive summer stipend plus funds for research supplies and conference travel support.
