Biography

Dr. William J. Hoyer is Professor of Psychology and Senior Scientist at the Center for Health and Behavior at Syracuse University. Dr. Hoyer teaches graduate-level and undergraduate courses in adult development and aging. He is affiliated with the Graduate Training Program in Cognition, Brain, and Behavior (Experimental Psychology) in the Psychology Department, and he is Research Professor of Ophthalmology at Upstate Medical University at Syracuse. He received his B.A. degree in psychology and mathematics from Rutgers College, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in experimental psychology from West Virginia University.

Dr. Hoyer is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, and the Gerontological Society of America. He serves or has served on a number of grant review panels and on the editorial boards for a number of journals including Developmental Psychology, Journal of Gerontology: Psychological Sciences, Aging, Neuropsychology, and Cognition, and Psychology and Aging.
