New York State and the Fingerlakes

New York State and the Finger Lakes are at their best

New York State is beautiful in the summer time!

The geography of New York State is majestic.  The Hudson River, the Catskill Mountains, the Adirondack Mountains, The Erie Canal,  Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, the Finger Lakes, Niagara Falls, and the many gorges, valleys and views!

Nearby Lake Ontario, being one of the Great Lakes is a New York gem.  With its own weather systems, it is a great influence of Central New York weather.   The area is known for its awesome sunsets, islands, fishing, boating, and is worth a car trip.  Southwick’s Beach is a good stop or you could travel further north and follow the lake with visits to Sackets Harbor, Cape Vincent, Clayton and Alexandria Bay.

If you would like to see wilderness, wildlife and the high peaks, rent a car to visit Lake Placid, home of the 1980 winter Olympics. Niagara Falls is also worth the car trip.  You don’t need to cross to Canada to see the best views, the views on the American side are also breath taking.

Next door to Syracuse, just west, are the Finger Lakes, created by glaciers.  The major lakes are Otisco, Skaneateles, Cayuga, Seneca, Canandaigua, and Keuka Lakes.   Local artisans and the wine trails are popular attractions.
